I have a 2003 mazda protege and absolutely dread this blizzard that was here 2 days ago. It dumped over a foot of snow here but I see a lot of people driving out of my neighborhood. I’ve driven in snow and ice before but I had a different car (97 ford taurus), and the snow accumulated 2-3 inches. But anyway, how would my type of car that I have now do on snow and ice?
The car does not really come into the equation. It is how the driver handles the conditions. We do not have the Protege model in the UK but looking at them they are similar to those sold here. It should be ok on snow, but even 4×4′s will not be much use on ice without chains or studded tyres! After 10 years of mild winters in the UK people have forgotten how to drive in bad weather & the country comes to a standstill if we have just 1 inch of snow!! My Mazda 6 TS is ok in the snow – but I know how to drive it. Plus I drive over 1700 miles a week for a living
